WELL

OVERVIEW: WELL is based on actual events in Bangladesh, where the drilling of tube wells in the 1970s accidentally created arsenic poisoning on an epic scale. This is a powerful exploration of the personal and global impact of well-meaning international intervention.

SONIC AESTHETIC: Soundscape of Bengali human sounds, noise & music, interwoven with recorded text. Forming an atmospheric backdrop to a stunning choreographic fusion of Classical Indian dance and contemporary Aerial Circus. WELL's story is entirely told through movement language and sound - the two are fused together to highlight the various narrative threads. WELL also made use of 'sonic props' - by placing contact speakers in to brass pots, the performers were able to interact with their sonic surroundings - establishing a stronger sense of movement and ultimately, facilitating new performance perrameters.
